He kinda of acts like a possessive older brother, not of a love interest. Same with the Ju-In, but as a younger brother/son.
This is just an inkling but I always thought ju-in was possessive in a more romantic way not familiar, he just never pursued it because he probably knew it would ruin their friendship. He might’ve suppressed his feelings entirely. Slight spoiler: I’ve heard somewhere that Ju-in wanted to keep her in a basement (figuratively) so that she’d belong to him but that could’ve also been in an obsessive younger brother way (also I don’t know if this is true btw I just saw it somewhere)
