I’m sorta in the same boat (wanting to be a cleaner for a scan group), so what I’m doing right now are my own scanalation projects to get that experience and act as a resume of sorts!!
I totally recommend buying some raws (jpn renta has everything) and doing the cleaning/translating/typesetting yourself for one manga!! And if you cant translate or typeset, then I definitely bet you can get someone from here to help you out with that (especially if you tell them ‘hey if you can help me out with ____, then we’ll work on the manga of your choosing!’)
And if all else fails, I have seen some groups that say ‘experience not required’ when asking for cleaners and that they’ll teach you everything, but I’m so sorry I cannot remember which ones they are. But I’ve seen them! They’re out there!
