So the main villain of the story is Professor Lassen (the 'fairy godmother' teacher who banned the MC from going to the party). Lassen's family sponsors talented students and their prestige and honor is built on the fact that they groomed and sponsored top tier individuals. This time the sponsored person is the story Heroine, which was the reason why in the original story Professor Lassen was like a fairy godmother watching over the heroine. In the story the heroine was a top student, adored by all, marries the prince and becomes queen. However now, because of our MC that's no longer the case. Our MC is the top student and that's why Professor Lassen starts targetting her + ML's fiancé, and Lassen wants all that for the Heroine so that her family can continue building their reputation for backing talented, influential people, which is the reason why she's targeting our MC.
She also ruins the potential friendship between the Heroine and the MC! She keeps getting between them and also berating the Heroine for not being the top scorer and trying to push her to compete with the MC. She also physically abuses the Heroine. The Heroine can't go against her because although her family was once nobles, now their deep in debt and have no power. She just gets totally beaten down mentally and starts also negatively comparing herself with the MC thinking that the MC has a happy, wealthy family and is smart and talented and loved by everyone while she (the Heroine) has nothing. As a result, although the Heroine doesn't become an outright villain she does develop a jealousy towards the MC and the possibility of them being friends is ruined.
