So its been a while since I've read the novel so all my facts might not be straight but it goes something like this. Hugo fell in love with his half sister and their child was Damian. Hugo didn't know they were related, it was heavily hinted at their dad had an affair (probably planned affair) which resulted in a half sister. Its really weird but i'll try and explain: male sibling + female sibling= red eyes/black hair male child who possesses their special bloodline. Male red eyes/black hair sibling + female non-sibling + special circumstances that leads to more spoilers lol= female child who looks normal and doesn't have red eyes/black hair or the special blood line But is still technically a sibling and blood related -> Meaning they can have a male red eyes/black hair child. Since Hugo and Hugh parents were siblings they would only be able to have male red eye/black hair children. So they essentially prepared a 'spouse' or half sibling through an affair so their heir could one day have an heir of his own and the bloodline would continue.... weird right? The novel plays it off like hugo met his half sibling by chance and neither actually knew
Yaaas!! Thank you for the explanation! I totally get the circumstance but was so curioud about who did it with whom (which turns out to be hugo + half sister) I knew Damian wasnt Hugh's son! I was so betting on it but the series still hasnt spilled any info about how damian came to be. (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
If the previous duke only had 2 sons(hugh & hugo) and the only sure way to have a male born in the family is through incest, plus Damian wasnt their younger brother but was introduced as a son instead... then where did he come from???!?
