Maybe it's not yet disgust, exactly, at what he did, but more like a reaction of anger and panicked self-preservation ("I was so very close to ending up exactly like before!").
If he was really disgusted, he would have stopped choking that female consort of his won accord, without needing to be persuaded.
I definitely see that, so maybe instead of so much disgust he’s kind of like shit shit shit i need to fix this like i’ve been terrible to him in all his past lives and i almost repeated it
