Hi there, I m also in a quite close situation as yours. I m the 1st child too, also in my 3rd year of Dentistry student. My school aint cheap either also my parents complain too. But yea, I can only take their complains and just keep it inside my heart cuz I know they didnt mean anything bad. I also failed many subject.. the problem was not only cuz of the lecturers but in my smoll brain too. And yes, my parents also complain bout that and I said 'even the smartest friend in class also have 1 or 2 failed subject' its not like I want to blame anyone but I just want them to know that I m trying my best surviving in becoming the future dentist and wish for them to keep supporting me.
Dont feel like you re a burden to the family dear, maybe a heart to heart talk with your parents will help. Dont feel pressured by the failure. Human make mistakes. That doesnt mean we as the eldest child should be perfect.

I actually cried when the phonecall with his father happened. Right now, I am studying pharmacy as an eldest daughter of the family. However, the school I attended does not come cheap. At first, they were supportive at me but 1 year after , they were complaining at me for because of the expenses. Now that I am third year, it had gotten worse when I flunked a subject (just because the teacher didnt like me) and lost my opportunity for latin honors. I also feel like they regret sending me there. They also kept comparing me to other people too. I know that hurting me is not their intention but that is what is happening. I feel like a burden in the family. I feel like i should not fail because i am the eldest but I did anyway. I felt like it was the end of the world for me as the wound in my heart keep on reopening. I'm actually crying while writing this.
I know it doesnt relate to the story at all but it just triggered my sadness again. I yearn to have parents like he does. And if you have parents like him, cherish them for me please. You don't know how lucky you are. ╥﹏╥
