I was just thinking

So not to offend but am I the only one who just wants a little like actual character development? I mean I love our protag and I have always rooted for him since the beginning, but I don't really know anything about him as a person and haven't seen a different part to him that makes him seem more sympathetical and human. I mean don't get me wrong we did get the thing with his mom and father and that time he fought Igris, but somehow I find him a lot different from the first few chapters personality wise. I don't know I liked him a bit more back then. I haven't read the novel yet so maybe I'm just being dumb. Please tell me if I just missed something

I 100% understand where you are coming from, but I will say there are a lot sympathetic moments from him. They aren’t stuck out like a sore thumb, but he isn’t a robot.

I did read the novel and one thing I noticed is that he is written different in the novel (a tad bit). In the beginning novel he makes an oath to be stronger. So he would constantly catch himself making excuses and push harder. You can see throughout as well like adopting the D-ranked kid and the Red Gate incident that he has a lot sympathy for lower ranked fighter. In terms of his mother, he is very loyal and caring towards her and his family. He levels up and makes the potion to pull her out of her coma. He is so highly skilled and it didn’t sway him from prioritizing his family. In Juju Arc, he skipped out on it initially despite knowing he could level up a lot on the island for the sake of his mother just waking up from a coma that he pulled her out of. In the novel, when he comes back the older man thanks him (like the comic) but he has more of an emotional reaction to his thanks. In the most recent chapter/comic episode, he left a high ranked dungeon even though he knew it could give him a lot of benefits to stay to go save his sister. When he got to the school, he didn’t go for the monsters first, he went to his sister to see if she’s okay.

I fully get where you are coming from because he isn’t particularly emotional, but I wouldn’t call him unsympathetic. This is just an ad to go read the novel honestly.
