Ok I’m calling it now the two guys following him (Nan Feng and Fu Yao) are actually their respective generals (Feng Xin and Mu Qing) who served under the mc
1. It’s weirdly coincidental that they each HAPPENED to be from the two generals who were friends and care takers of Xie Lian 2. They seemed somewhat familiar with his behavior like how Fu Yao constantly roles his eyes or they each make comments. That’s weird to do to someone you just met who is a higher rank than you 3. They seem to both take care of him or are genuinely worried about him. 4. They have the same personalities as the generals they serve. Fu Yao gets overly mad when tossed the broom as it has to do with general Mu Qing past...but it’s a little too mad to be about someone else’s past 5. Going back to the one above I think Hua Chang knows they’re the generals and purposefully does stuff to piss them off
It’s easier to see in the novel of the same chapters but I’m convinced
