Speculating further on your idea: If Asami's father is still alive and is still a powerful mafia boss somewhere abroad, he could indeed return to avenge his son (and take over) + ensure his son receives best care possible. If his father kept a close eye on Asami all this time and looked after his wellbeing from the shadows, this could sort of explain how Asami survived the fall (i.e. father's goons were close by and immediately shipped A&A to the hospital instead of letting them bleed out).
Whether father would allow Aki to be with Asami, whether he would attempt to pressure Asami to marry+produce an heir, leave Japan and return to his side... could be another batch of drama for several volumes to come. :D
