The author concentrated too much on the ambiguous 'mutual understanding' of the childhood friends instead of building up the 'supposedly' main couple of the story to make it more natural and convincing. I mean, mangas usually have very limited chapters so authors should set their priorities clear ly. The approach is good and unique, i know, but if i think about it in a 'convincing bl falling in love trope' point of view, we won't get the the vibe from the two, especially from the uke's side because the author made it look like the puppy childhood friend love is real, and there's no way in hell i'm gonna be convinced that such feeling can easily be erased in just few unconvincing 'bud of love' interaction of the main characters.
Aww, shit... My reply to you looks like a rant, lol! It has surfaced Σ(っ°Д °;)っ
I have to agree, I don't now why people are downvoting. Istg if there's something critiquing a bl they love they always have to disagree. This manga focused way too much on the childhood "love" instead of the actual main couple. In fact the majority of the "screen time" that the main couple got usually had to do with the girl (looking for the charm, talking about how to hold hands). The lack of development in the actual couple saddens me, it was like they developed feelings out of no where especially with MC who has been in love with his childhood friend but suddenly likes the other dude instead. If they were going to make this a good bl story they should've included more moments that led up to the development to their feelings.
All in all development could've been better, I read shounen ai for the fluff and the moments included here weren't very fluffy and usually related to the girl when they could've worked on actual relationship. I'm a bit disappointed because this definately could've had it's moments, the art was really well done so there's that too.
Idk what I'm doing anymore, I'm critiquing bls that no one will ever see on a website at midnight ( ;∀;)
Hahaha... Well, it can't be helped, i guess xD I'm fine with raining downvotes, but i would really appreciate it more if they also drop a reason why they didn't agree or simply just ask me why i'm going against the current, lol.
To be honest, i like bl stories under shounen-ai genre more than yaoi ones since i'm "still" into 'pure and innocent' love development trope, so whenever i get to spot a decent premise, not to mention with high rating and good feedback, i get really excited and looking forward to reading it. So just imagine my disappointment xD
And since i like the genre, i tend to criticize it more, and the feelings i get out from it always on the extreme sideーit's either i'm gonna be on cloud 9 for several days or curse nonstop due to utter disappointment.
Shounen-ai is pretty scarce so... yeah, there goes my solitary unpopular opinion about this manga, lol
Hahaha... I totally get you. The romance development and the overall vibe of shounen-ais is a lot different from yaois, maybe because the focus is really on the gradual (though cheesy and cringey sometimes lol) romance development side, where s*x is close to none, but you would really appreciate the beauty and meaning of what "boy's love" really meanーin a rather 'wholesome' sense, lol.
Well, so far, most of the completed bl's i've read are almost yaois (webnovels included), and i dare say i can name a fairly lot with good plot and romance development, too. And i gotta say, i also consider some a 'masterpiece'. Ya know, i strongly believe that whether it be a yaoi or shounen-ai, it really depends and relies on the author's good sense of story executionーwhich i find lacking on this particular manga.
...oh, i'm currently reading chinese webnovel right nowーmachine-translating from raw, lol. Same here, a no-lifer ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Unpopular opinion: i really think is so messy it's frustrating.
