For those wondering how the novel differs and whether to read. (I only started reading from the part where Maria healed the arm of Yun Seora)
Overall, the webtoon focuses more on Seol and friendship, while the novel balances between action, harem and world building. What's protrayed as friendship here becomes harem in the novel.
The novel has a lot of harem moments, mostly with badass or crazy girls turning bashful, flirty and/or seductive with Seol. If you really DETEST harem, you're better off sticking to the webtoon because they left such scenes out completely. (So far) However, with Seol behaving like a Beta, they felt more like younger and older sisters rather than a love interest, tho it doesn't deter them from plastering themselves onto Seol.
However! The action scenes in the novel are splendidly done. Whenever Seol was in a precarious moment, I felt like my heart was in my mouth. It really felt like he'll die at any moment. That's where the webtoon pale in comparison. If you think the action scenes in the webtoon are good, then the novel is 10 times better, much to my surprise. It's enough for me to overlook the harem, which is a tag I really dislike.
There are also a lot of details left out in the webtoon. Example, details of what happened during the impossible mission. And that after leaving the tutorial, everyone was sitting on different benches and signing contracts. (kim hannah placed out two contracts for Seol - one is Sinyoung's and one is her personal one) And how to use the portal back to Earth and the storage locker. And what Seol experienced on Earth was muchhh more detailed and sad.
If you're curious about the harem scene that was left out in the webtoon, read on.
[Spoiler...i guess?] After Yun Seora's arm was healed by Maria, she shifted to Seol's room because his room accelerates healing (smtg along those lines), accompanied by the Yi siblings.
At night, Yun Seora couldn't sleep, so she went to squat beside Seol who was sleeping on the floor. She went from poking his hand, to holding it, to crawling over to sniff his hand, to rubbing her cheek against his hand, and then to lying on his chest and falling asleep. Apparently, she felt comfortable with his body scent. When Seol woke up to find her asleep and hugging him, he thought she fell off the bed. So, he slept on the sofa the next night, yet the same thing happened. He ended up sleeping in the bathtub with the glass door locked the following night, but he woke up to see Yun Seora with bloodshot eyes, plastered agaisnt the glass door and glaring at him.
Thanks for this! I was already planning on reading the novel and was concerned about the harem part. But hey! Your review about it made me want to really read the novel despite the harem. Thanks again!!!
