I was the same, then I watched the donghua. It was simplier for me, and I started to understand more.ヾ(☆▽☆) I recommend giving it a try or read the novel.(⌒▽⌒)

My recomendation would be to start with the live action series, since it follows a linear timeline once they introduce the characters (cloud recesses, then lotus pier, etc etc until we get back to the present). It's easier to understand, and then you can jump into the other versions to fill in the gaps and see what was modified in The Untamed (CQL). I did that and I don't regret a thing, the story is really good once you give it a chance and find what works best for you.

Loll yikes I would 1000% say novel first from the very beginning. If you don’t get a good grasp of the original content, then the modifications made in the other versions will definitely confuse you, and spoil and change parts that imho would be much more impactful after reading the novel from the beginning.

For example: a couples chapters into upcoming cave scene almost made me cry in the novel, whereas in the anime and live action I honestly didn’t feel that much since it lost a lot of the vulnerability (and gay loll) due to censorship. if you watch the live action or anime first you’ll already know the gist of what goes on so the original super sad impactful scene might not even bring you to tears, it’ll just be “oh so that’s what changed”

Then how about you read the novel first? Or watch the drama - it's on YouTube, search The Untamed
