Just wanted opinions, since this has been happening a lot recently

so just now, one of my favorite BL manhuas got dropped by a scanlation team. I've been following the author for a while now on twt and their recent tweets have been about their work being pirated on many sites. This is probably the 3rd time consecutive in a row that a manhua/manwha has been dropped thanks to people finding the scans through their social media.
I've been honestly really torn on my opinion on this, because I really enjoy reading their work, but I don't really understand the language to read raws of them.. I also don't want the authors themselves to be sad and feel that they're doing their work all in vain. But we're also not supporting the author by reading scans on here..
I'm super torn, because I'm on both sides of this problem. I mean, I want the author to be happy and gain revenue, but I also get mad at the people who blab about this site and don't know how keep their mouths shut on social media.
anyway my question is, what do you think of manwhas/mangas uploaded on here?

    i appreciate the ppl who take their time and money to upload/translate the works but yea i do feel bad for the author not getting supported
    all those ppl who tell the authors or mention these scans rly aren’t helping anyone tho
    i pretty much think that the work being uploaded here isnt a good or bad thing like it’s getting their work out there but not getting them proper income idk

    honestly most of us wouldn't have paid the these manga anyway and some don't even have official english translations
    but these sites do let more people read manga, like I paid to read a few stories on tappytoons or whatever and if i had never been introduced to them thru free sites like this I wouldnt have even known about it

    the only time im against reading stuff on here is if its available for free elsewhere like webtoon, but again sometimes if it hadn't been posted here I wouldn't have known about it free or not esp if its on some obscure app

    tbh the moment when i have my own money and am able to support authors, then y e s, take my moneyyy. But in the meantime i don't really have a choice :. I feel bad for the authors and artists tho, and i definitely believe that if you can you should buy the mangas.

    I kinda feel the same way about this. I would gladly pay if I had money and the official English translations came out. But, I'd prolly have so much debtt after tho lmao

    I can see what you mean about it not being either good and bad, I like the way you see both good and bad sides to it. I kinda never saw it that way tbhh

    I think scanlation is alright if the series have very little to no chance of ever getting an English adaptation, as there is no revenue to be gained by the creators anyway. The hope of sharing scanlated series is to introduce the author & the work, kind of like a free advertisement, in the hope that the author would become known to English speaking audience. So when the author release future works that do get English adaptation, they already have a fan base ready to support them. Sometimes I even see people go out of their way to purchase the raws that they can't read just to support the artist because they love the scanlated series so much. That probably would not have happened without the help of scanlators. So in my opinion, if done correctly, scanlations don't pose a lot of threat to the authors. Uploading the official English chapters however, is an entirely different matter.

    I really like how positive you think about it. I've always been looking at it from a negative angle, so idek why it never really came to me that scanlators can introduce and build a fan base through their scans. but yeah, the actual translations are something else ;_;

    that's why only if you can <3. Maybe buy from author who needs it or books that you really like, as I'm sure you already do! I think some people are too quick to judge- we're not selfish or greedy we all have our situations, but we should try our best to do our part
