So basically, the mute boy was actually an old dog who was abandoned after his previous owner passed away. Like dog, he kept eating food he wasn't supposed to and kept returning balls to his owners grave. At the end of the oneshot, it shows the poor dog, possibly passed on as well, lying on his owner's grave.
