I agree
Morality doesn't disappear only because the setting is fictional. Shotacon & Lolicon is disgusting. I really don't see how people can like or get off on seeing children getting topped by adults? There actually have been movements in Japan to ban shotacon & lolicon since it's seen as too close to child porn. That's saying something. Even if the characters aren't real, it's still disgusting. The story being fictional is not an excuse for fucked up shit like this. Why are you trying to defend this? Why are you bashing people for speaking out against messed up stuff like this? The fact that people actually try to defend this is creppy as fuck. People who enjoy this are sick. Period.
This is what I called "overreacting". If you consider morality to be a norm to judge which art should be allowed and which shouldn't, why don't you begin at "Pulp Fiction" and other Tarantino movies, since in his films dozens of people get killed every second, but in a funny way? Those are characters on film, they don't exist, therefor aren't really killed. But hey, morality etcetera! Throw Tarantino in jail! Isn't mass murder just as disgusting as child- or any other porn? Be consistent...
(Yes, it's me. The previous user-"No Name")
You cannot compare murder to child porn or say that they are equally disgusting. Those are 2 different things. Stop trying to use the "Oh, it's fictional so it's alright" excuse to justify this. I understand that this isn't real, but that doesn't mean people can't speak out againt it. It's an adult who's having sex with a child. Not mentioning the fact that it's his uncle. His father's brother. If you don't see anything wrong with this, then you're sick. This should not be allowed, honestly. This is just drawn child porn. I really don't see how people think children getting fucked should be allowed. Like I said before, there's a reason those movements have been happening in Japan. It's saying something. I'm ending this conversation here. I cannot even bring myself to even comment about this anymore. You are free to continue thinking that way if you want. Have a nice day.
I do can compare one crime to an other, can't I? And if you consider the making of a story about one crime disgusting, but an other, telling of an other crime "an entirely different thing" in other words "not so bad", just because with killing there's no sex involved, my conclusion is your problem is mainly with the sex, not with morality in general... If it wasn't the case, you would consider all crimes equally disgusting. And all stories about crimes equally bad or not so bad.
Having real sex with a real kid is wrong. I get that. Killing a person is wrong too! So how is drawing the first thing worse than the second?
I still think you're overreacting towards drawn people being done things to that aren't real, because they simply don't exist. And I resent your overrighteous attitude...
Quick question though, should we ban movies with rape in them? I mean, murder may not be even close to shotacon/lolicon, but rape kinda is. Except in shotacon, at least the ones I've read, it's always consensual. I mean, if we're going to ban some pieces of FRICKING PAPER in Japan, we might as well ban PEOPLE GETTING BUTT FRICKED NON-CONSENSUAL. Lol but w/e it's not the same right> Lemme just sip my tea.
Movies with rape (The ones I've seen at least) tend to not try to romanticize it like yaoi generally does. Even if shotacon characters give consent, it doesn't change the fact that it's a young child having sex with an adult. I don't blame Japanese people wanting to ban shotacon/lolicon. It can be considered borderline child pornagraphy.
we should have a forum somewhere to do these type of debates. We've got too little space here to really explain our thoughts. It's hard to really get through a subject like this in a box that starts jumping up and down after six or seven lines! I know of a site about Manga and all sorts, that has a forum too. They have a special space for extensive debates about moral issues of all types: http://www.animea.net/forums/ . People can write down their thoughts as much as they want, and debate to their hearts content. All they ask is no abusing each other, but then, we don't do that, do we...
I don't get some of you guys. Do'nt you realize these are nothing but drawings on paper? Who cares if the boy's "too young"? There IS no boy, just some paper! People who read these stories, and do nothing else but liking it, how is that wrong? Who have they harmed? A drawn character? So what? Moralists shouldn't lose their sense of reality, I think.
