No, the 'author' writes the story (or sometimes novel which the manga originates from), and the 'mangaka' draws a manga based on the story - sometimes 'mangaka' and 'author' are the same, for they write their own stories.
So it's rather an administrative issue to add the category 'mangaka' between 'author' and 'genre'.
yeah, it's confusing. mangago tried to solve this problem by putting both mangaka and writer's names as authors so you might find some manga with two authors (usually recent manga). ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
It's also a problem of the search-engine, readers are adding mangaka's and authors bit by bit so their works can be grouped, but the effect is sometimes more confusing ^^ In addition some names are off by one character, since the original writing's got different readings ..*pullshair*
Is Gothou Shinobu (this manga author) & Kannagi satoru (from this manga: http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/only_the_ring_finger_knows/ ) is the same person? I'm really curious because their arts looks similar.. （￣へ￣）
