Although Im not the author, I really don't think he sees him as an object. Going back to highschool he clearly said he'd save him over his girlfriend if he was dying. I'm not exactly sure of his feelings towards mc, but he's had years to figure that shit out. He's distanced himself and wants to know every little thing about him yet was the one not telling anything to mc, that's where I think he's in the wrong. Man's has to back TF up.
