A good romance can really add to the story and flesh the characters out .... but a bad one can do the opposite. Unfortunately, most stories can't do romance well. With that being the case, Im with you, much prefer stories without romance. Especially harem just wish fulfillment filler most of the time.
I love that there is no romance. So many of my favorite stories were ruined because of lame love interests and the main character always changes for the worse and becomes boring and cliche af when he is in love
