That's true but maybe his teleport was on cooldown and you know how it has a long cooldown
the cooldown after an exchange is like a couple hours? i think? cant remember. im gonna say he needs at least 1 to 2 hours before he can use it again. and seeing as he already used it to get to the gate, he can't use it again until after the whole school has been killed or something. rushing with the dragon was the fastest way.
In the novel it was stated that there's a cooldown but in here they didnt show it.
