Didn't read it all but skimmed through it. I agree to all that.... Also you have what we call passion. Cause you were writing WRITING, lol. It's a great story about a chick who is a regular Rachael and just keeps getting the sh¡t end of the stick. Raggedy friends and family... But the big break for her is being Cinderella. She called it, so it has to happen. Hopefully...
I waited 81 chapters to comment, just so you know. And I have some complaints.
First off why every time something good or interesting is happening with Shen Yu Fei, it cuts to Shui Shu and her situation? Every time. Could we maybe focus a little bit.
Shui Shus plot and character development read as though she’s an after thought instead of an actual character. And I feel that’s spawns from the constant back and forth. It doesn’t come off as a story with two leads and there love lives, but rather Yu Feis love story and her best friend who also happens to get a good guy too.
I get using it as a way to break up boring scenes or you know wanting to get the reader more invested but it’s every time. Use a different method. (This isn’t directed at the translator but the actual author)
And speaking of her dear friend, she does not have her back at all.
She was the one who got her into this situation in the first place (not saying Yu Fei isn’t also responsible because she did agree to it) and then when she met the secretary she wanted Yu Fei to come clean just so she could get with said secretary. But Yu Fei didn’t want to do that because it might cost her job. So Shui Shu tricks her into meeting with the director instead and runs away.
After this Yu Fei continues to meet the director while Shui Shu is happy with the secretary but our main girl is confused as all hell because she lied and trick the director but also she needs to keep her job so stays quiet. It’s around this time the director starts getting close to his employee Yu Fei and not her fake persona Shen Kim.
He shows that he cares for her and she starts falling for him too, however at this same time Shui Shu is having problems with the Secretary. Which she ends up taking out on Yu Fei by telling her the Directors actions are probably just revenge.
Now Shui Shu has known Yu Fei since high school and your telling me you don’t see your friend falling for this guy? On top of that you basically tell her this guy is not to be trusted and you don’t know her well enough that she’s going to take your words to heart and over think everything? (I don’t mean to suggest Shui Shu is responsible for Yu Feis’ actions just that she should have been better aware of how her words would have been taken or better yet not bring down Yu Feis’ feelings just because her own situation was going down hill.)
So now Yu Fei is pushing the director away while Shui Shu and the secretary work out there situation.
That leads me to the part where the Director comes to help with the chicken shop.
Shui Shu leaves when Fang Ge shows up, I mean just completely ghosts her. We don’t even get a scene of her leaving, she’s just gone. Leaving her supposed best friend behind with her seven year old crush and the new one. Who, the best friend believes is out to get revenge on her. And she does all that so she can go back home and get it on with her boyfriend.
Have you noticed a pattern?
She ran away from the blind dates, she runs when she sees the secretary with another girl, she runs from her friend when said friend needs her. Ugh. I’m annoyed.
This is definitely a case where we’ve been told Shui Shu is Yu Feis best friend but we are not being shown that from her actions.
She’s completely choosing her relationship over her friend. Which I understand, relationships do take priority eventually but y’all just met, and your best friend is literally drowning in a situation you helped put her in, you can’t keep it in your pants for a second to see that she’s hurting.
I don’t know why I’m surprised Yu Feis got shitty friends though, she stuck around Fang Ge for seven years watching him get girlfriend after girlfriend. Fang Ge didn’t see her hurting either. That’s not to say he had to return her feelings but maybe something to at least acknowledge.
Now on the other hand this feels about right. Friends don’t always see what’s going on with you, and vice versa. I don’t expect Shui Shu to fix all Yu Feis problems, I just mean to say she’s missing some basic things as the best friend. You know, like being there for her.
No worries though, I have enjoyed the story so far this is just a bit of a rant that’s been building up.
