The anime is also not accurate tho. It has lots of changes.. In retrospect, the manhua is more accurate in regards to plot execution. It'll be better for you to read the novel to get the hang of things..

Ok.. I'd be blunt.. The romance in the live action was non-existent.. It was all bromance.. And it only followed the general trajectory of the plot.. Lots of details were changed so.. But it was still interesting and cute anyway.. At least the actors played the characters perfectly and somehow found a way to create the illusion of an undercurrent between Lan Zhan and WWX
I didn't watch live action till last month as well for that reason plus not wanting real characters attachment. Although many changes, it was well executed and the characters worked hard to justify it. The closest to novel is audio drama, then the manhua as it at least showed us the inn kiss scene lol, also Jingyi's comment to WWX in Coffin town(Yi city) when they left Wangji fighting with Xue Yang. I still loved donghua and waiting for season 3 to come.
thank god i watched the anime before reading this manhua because there were many things that were in the anime that wasnt explained in the manhua
