How many kids have you seen or heard about being born with 3 heads, 6 legs, and 28 asses? I'm surprised how prevalent this view is though there is no scientific basis for such fear. Any human child has a 1 to 2% chance of being born with 2 recessive genes that could cause genetic disabilities. If the parents are close blood relatives, the risk doubles. But that's still under 5% chance of having a genetic disability from inheriting the same recessive genes from both parents. That's not enough to cause such widespread panic in so many people in so many parts of the world. The church has been very busy.
