Thank you for the thought out and well phrased followup to my comment about dialects. It's rare to find someone who understands that nuances like that bring to life the writing. Instead of a cliched trope we get a quirk that holds interest when dialects are included.

    No problem aha. I actually have a soft spot for Bokurani Matsuwaru (I have the English copy on my bookshelf, actually) and Kyuugo in general. The translation was very difficult to read in the print version, but after a few rereads I really liked the choices that were made. I feel like the person we were replying to had the same initial reaction I did, though they didn't think through it enough to consider the asethetic reasons behind how it was translated (as in, it wasn't written that way simply to spite the reader and make it more difficult to process).
