Grownups can easily drown in ponds and rivers. The ground isn't stable, it's slippery and can literally collapse from beneath your feet. I live in a country full of rivers so it happens a lot. Also, not everyone knows how to swim, especially that Minato had a heart disease so I doubt he had swimming lessons growing up.

Ok but how did Minato even drown??? Isn’t he a high schooler or something? Like he’s a frikkin grown up dude but he ended up tripping and drowned in a pond?
