I agree with you. Plus, I think it gives her the self-confidence she was lacking previously. Even though she isn’t that confident now, she managed to be more confident with herself thanks to a prettier appearance, abilities and being praised by her wonderful boss.
While I do agree with you, this is a life/death situation for the guy, and I do believe all she was really lacking was some confidence. I mean heck! That whole thing with the finances? That was all her previous abilities. She's amazing and needs to realize she's amazing without a magic drug.

I've got to say even though it wasn't for her to drink the medicine the monk made I think she kinda deserve it a little with how she cares about her family & dedicated and good she is to her job
