These people get on my nerves... Why are they so impulsive? The only character I like is Arjen. Arien is so emotionally driven and childish, it’s like she ACTUALLY turned into a child. Both of them could stand to use their heads and think more. I like how Arjen recognized that even though they may not like it, the palace and royal family is their only protection. Him choosing not to be impulsive and run away with Arien was a mature decision that I would expect from someone that has lived througuh abuse TWICE. (Unless I’m not remembering it right I believe they had issues in their past lives.) The favoritism from the author for Arien is annoying too. These children are TWINS. They are both the main characters so why does it seem all the characters are focused on Arien rather than Arjen most of the time? Another grievence I have is the overwhelming lack of communication. I understand Arien and Arjen not confronting the King over what they overheard, after all they did recently come out of a traumatizing experience with one of their parents. They probably thought they could save themselves from the trouble and heartache by closing themselves off. I don’t like the choice but it was an understandable one. BUT THE KING. WHAT REASON DOES THE KING HAVE TO NOT TALK TO HIS CHILDREN? He knows they’re not comfortable yet which could have influenced his decision to believe a random kid about how Arjen and Arien hate him, but come on. You’re not even going to try and reason with 7 year olds? I’m probably missing stuff or have forgotten parts of the story but honestly it’s just getting tiring. I’m not sure I want to remember, at all. I hope I’m not the only one feeling frustrated over the story.
