What the FUCK. DMP want $45000 to make copies of books they have already translated, and have the rights to, that they will then sell to us for a profit. What the hell do they need money for? There is this thing called Print On Demand! This is a complete scam and a brazen attempt to scalp a loyal and willing fanbase.

Fucking email them this instead http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827/catalogmgr/dUQclp1bUSXGSKdF=i/browse/item/95022/4/0/0

    http://www.printondemand-worldwide.com/bookvault/prices

£3 for 200 HD mono pages
    +£0.036 for 8 colour pages
+£0.63 full colour cover &paperback binding
    +£1.25 handling
= £4.92 ($7.46) for a whole volume. And that's without any bulk purchasing discounts of short runs.

POD requires under $100 intial cash outlay per volume. This is worse than DashCon. Disgusting. Don't do it. Your money will only support a vampiric outdated business model.

I already did, and I'm okay with it. Kickstarter doesn't take your money unless it actually happens, so I'm not really worried about it. No one said you had to do it, but thank you for your input. I'm sure people will appreciate hearing the other side of the coin.

    I seriously was baffled by how they translated volume 7's arc name;
    Play in the Abyss.
    ._____.
I'm not sure how the rest of the translation goes though. I was told they changed the translator and parts of the volume sounded wrong... Also the color page is in black and white in the volume, though they do sell the artwork with the limited edition one on Akadot only which is unusable to international buyers because of their crazy shipping rates.

Anyway, the first 6 volumes are supposedly great adaptations. The thing is, they only have to reprint, which should give them profit in the end because that literally is what their company is about. If they can't even do that on their own, well that's sad. I understand people really want those volumes, so they're going to back it anyway, it's just that it does seem like DMP is shamelessly trying to make extra money here.

I dunno about the 7th volume. Mine has yet to arrive, but I'll let ya know what I think of it as soon as I get it. I also said screw it and sent them a message asking them to post why they feel the need to Kickstart a restock. They say on their page that it's to speed up the process for the fans and that it's a good excuse to offer extra goodies, but I have no idea what's involved in the reprinting process. I'll post it if they address it. I'm just super impatient and a sucker for swag. :D

Well, of course extra money is going to speed up the process 8). Funding restocking just doesn't sound really right to me lol.
I mean sure, go ahead, many of their tiers seems to give you most of your money's worth, so why should you even care about that. And about volume 7, well it's probably better than the online version anyway (there's some very inacurate stuff in there), it just seems that the translation is not on par with the precedent volumes in terms of accuracy to the original work.

Meanwhile I buy mangas either in French or in Japanese, the two cultures which have the most developped manga market, so it doesn't really concern me or bother me anyway. I just leech on English scanlations to get updated :V

OMG! I thought I was the only one that think it was kind of a scam. I'm like seriously, they obviously want some extra money to go a long with it. They are a company who bought the rights to translate and sell it but they have no money to do it? Like others said, all they have to do it print it. It is their responsibility to pay for their employees salary. Kickstarter are for people who usually are just starting in business and want support.

Also, the way they translate it is horrible. The fans who translate them are better and more accurate than them. I feel like this company is a third rate company.

Well, it kind of is, they have less than 20 employees and they don't make much money in general. That says a lot about the state of their company...
