Manga is a Japanese comic
Manhwa is a Korean comic
Manhua is a Chinese comic
All of the above can be called a webcomic if they are posted in web because there are also physical copies of them ( not all but some of them ) in their countries.
As for webtoon I think it's just the same as webcomic in sense
Hope this helps you clear the thoughts on your mind hahaha also happy reading~~ (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
it still is confusing even if you what the words mean.
manga = japanese PRINTED comic
manhwa = korean PRINTED comic (i.e the breaker)
webtoon = (originated in korea) the digital viewing of a comic through the vertical format (but also includes other formats)
webcomic = (western) digital viewing of a comic
manhwas are not webtoons. but a webtoon can be a manhwa. most of korea's comics are available digitally and sometimes has a manhwa, but its printed counterpart isn't nearly as popular. i use the words interchangeably now though since Line Webtoons can cause some confusion with Korean webtoons and Western webtoons.
smartasses prefer if you call it Korean Webtoons though because they get really fussy about their printed manhwas (i.e "I bought the Breaker manhwa like a real fan! I'm not about that digital stuff!11!11")
I don't really understand what's the difference between manga ,manhwa ,webtoon , webcomic
and is there any other categories aside from these
I'm new to and this has been very confusing
