The bigger issues.

I’m angry. I left a 5 star review previously before the last few chapters.
I’m a person who suffers from DID which is referred to as “split personality” (which is kind of offensive in its own way) in this manga.
This was comfort to me.
I wanted more chapters.
I waited impatiently and projected onto characters.
But as it ended,my struggles were used as a “cool plot twist” to excuse murder and I’m tired of It being used that way. It’s disrespectful.
The depiction of it is vile and incorrect.
The borderline incestuous tones don’t make it better.
I used to love this manga more than any other but now i feel nothing but rage towards it.
My review is now one star and that one star is just for the art.

I get why you are angry and to be fair I dont think DID is as well known (yet). I have a question though how would you or your other alters have wanted the story to end?

Firstly, just because I read this doesn’t mean that they have-
We are separate entities with separate interests.
Second of all, honestly I would prefer absolutely any other ending over this. Id even prefer an ending where Yuuta, the exact character I projected onto, dies.
Anything would be better than making light of an illness you know nothing about and making it weirdly incestuous, especially when in-system dating is already taboo because everyone expects us to see each other as family.
Thank you for being interested in what I have to say

If you're interested in this genre, I'll recommend Adam no Rokkotsu from Michinoku Atami, if you don't know it already
This one is really written great

It’s definitely written well if you take into account what this manga was probably trying to achieve, to make you go “wtf”. A manga accomplishes what it was meant to do when you keep thinking about it, that’s why killing stalking is considered a really good manhwa, because to this day I think of how messed up it was. I’ll probably keep thinking about this manga, so I’ll stick with my 5 stars. That doesn’t excuse that this is so wrong factually, but I don’t think a manga that’s considered a psychological (that tag really needs to be added) should be taken seriously for what mental health was

You don’t get what I’m trying to say.
I don’t want my struggles to be the “wtf” moment as you described it.
I don’t want this illness that is already so stigmatized and lied about to be the “”reason people go “””wtf”””””
    It’s hurtful.
It’s like making light of autism or depression but worse. It’s scummy and gross.

And I don’t think you understand what I’m saying. I said it’s well written in the fact that it makes you go wtf, the DID part does do it, but the whole manga is a wtf manga, the twist does make you go wtf, but you’re wtfing the whole time. Nobody is stigmatising the disorder in this manga because nobody should take it seriously, it’s literally a crack pot of a plot, and nobody is or should be taking this for medical fact. And you know what? As someone who does have depression and autism, I’ve seen both of them used in these sorts of situations, but because I know better than to be hurt by a manga where the whole premise is two males having sex with each other for the pleasure of women, I don’t get insulted by it. If you don’t like it, don’t read it.

It’s fine to get upset when DID is used so falsely, especially if it’s influencing large amounts of people, but seriously? On a yaoi? You’re like the person I saw getting mad that somebody made a joke about god in the comment section of a yaoi manga, you’re reading the manga, isn’t that like bad in itself? This whole genre is known to be an absolutely crack pot of a genre, literally nothing should be taken seriously. If you want a yaoi manga where DID is portrayed some what nicely, read http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/adam_no_rokkotsu/ either way, it’s used in a manga about sex

I’m literally a gay man first of all so that should tell you that this isn’t just for women.
Second of all,as someone who ALSO suffers from depression and IS neurodivergent, this isn’t an excuse. Whatsoever. You can make the reader go “what the fuck” without using something that people actually suffer from. That’s not an excuse or justification.

Obviously you haven’t done a lot of research on yaoi because that will tell you it is the fetishisation of gay people for the pleasure of women. That is literally what it is, doesn’t mean there aren’t other groups of people who read this, but that’s what the intent is. Most yaoi are written by women for women whereas bara is written by men, for men. It’s like the shoujo ai and yuri, both are tended to be read by men. Yaoi is porn, point blank periodt. Some have better plots, and some where yaoi is just an extra part to it like killing stalking. I don’t know whether or not you guys are not remembering well, but our mc here literally eats a gold fish in the chapter 1 + the whole having sex with a person who’s brain is obviously in the state of a child’s. That’s already made you go what the fuck enough, and the plot twist was disappointing and at the same made you go wtf in a different way. This whole thing is literally to make the reader go wtf and honestly, the use of DID, not even properly does that. The fact that you can’t even call that DID is an overstatement, as far as I remember, they just say split personality and do not delve into it any further. For all we know, they didn’t mean DID and meant their own situational thing. It never gets confirmed, for all we know this character may have BPD or some other personality issue

    1. Split personality disorder is literally an outdated and offensive term for people with DID. And the fact that you think it isn’t already shows how much harm it’s done.
    2. Again, you’re teaching me all this like I already don’t know but you can’t tell me what to or what not to read when this is literally a genre fetishizing me and my partner. It’s my decision wether or not I read it and criticize it. Do I think yaoi is wrong? Yes absolutely. But often there is no other gay media I can freely indulge in being an Asian man myself.
    3. Are you telling me that my feelings of anger are just..stupid? You’re just telling me to suck it up? Because if I told you to “suck it up,I don’t care that this is offensive to autistic people” you’d get hurt and upset. Invalidating someone’s feelings isn’t it. That’s like telling black people they shouldnt be upset with bad depictions of black people in yaoi. It’s not your place. I don’t care what the genre is out to do. Girls can be gross and jerk off to my sexuality without also bringing another one of my life long struggles into it.

Excuse me? Do you genuinely think this is the first time I’ve run into DID? Because it isn’t, I take psychology and my god the amount of times we learn about different personality disorders. Split personality disorder is an outdated term, yes, but is it offensive? This name was given before further studies and research was done on the topic of DID and was found it isn’t the personality splitting off into different alters, but a dissociation creating an amnesiac barrier, and that’s why it was renamed. If I was so god darn uneducated on the topic, please explain to me how I would know different terms like bipolar disorder, and BPD, and the fact that I even agreed that this is factually incorrect. Please for the love of god, explain to me how this has damaged my poor naive brain. Never once did I tell you that you can’t read yaoi, please highlight to me where I said that, because I know gay men read yaoi, nobody is stopping you, my point was that yaoi was written by women for women. I even explicitly said that yaoi is read by other groups of people and nothing is stopping them from, it’s just what it was originally for. I never said suck it up, everyone is right to express their opinions, but now you’re telling me I cannot express my own opinion? And for god’s sake, highlight to me again where I called you stupid? Please stop placing words into my mouth that I haven’t even said or suggested. So what? This whole story is a wtf story, I see autism and depression used a dime a dozen on media, I don’t get offended by it because usually it aids the story. We’re not over here reading the official English translation of it, for all we know split personality wasn’t the word they used, we don’t speak Japanese, or read it, that’s why we’re on a pirating website. If you’re going to take offence to a manga where two men have sex with each other, go ahead, never said you can’t. I’m merely pointing out that getting upset over it isn’t going to do anything. At the end of the day, we’re on a pirating website stealing money from authors who are just trying to get by, we’re committing a cyber crime but a factually incorrect representation of a disorder in a manga where nobody can take any of it seriously is worse in your eyes? Because I highly doubt a lot of people are reading this, and the people on this website should be over 18, some are not, but most of them are, and I’d be right to think that people wouldn’t be so easily influenced by a crack pot of a manga.

    Then let me be upset,fuck
It’s not your place to tell me to be or not to be upset. What was the reason of you coming to me and responding? To just shut up and stop complaining? Because trust me,no matter how much you learn psychology, which I also dabble in,you can’t know the full extent of the disorder unless you have it.
It’s stigmatized way more than autism or depression. Not because it’s mentioned more than either of those, but because it’s always painted in a bad light. You replied to my comment like I had no right to be upset when that’s not how it works. Also just because it’s an “outdated term” doesn’t mean it can’t turn offensive- it’s offensive because of the connotations. Because mangas like these use it with the outdated name. Because people pretend to have DID under that name just to stigmatize it further. Just because it’s just an outdated name doesn’t mean the community can’t take offense to it.
I didn’t comment this to have the manga taken down or “cancel” the artist,I commented it to make people aware of the situation and express my emotions. You replied why? To tell me I have no right to be upset over it. When you defend something to a person who’s angry about it,you’re implying they have no right to be upset. That is all.

When you comment, you open yourself up to a conversation, you’re expressing your opinions onto a platform where anybody who scrolls can view it. It appears to me you’re not even reading any of my responses clearly because you seem to keep repeating the same points despite me either agreeing, or explaining my view and my side to it. Yes, I will never know what DID is like, nor do I want to. Yet again, placing words into my mouth, I know DID has a lot of stigma around it, it happens with any disorder that isn’t commonly talked about or commonly known to the general public, but like with any mental disability or illness, awareness does get raised around it. Not too long ago, autism was seen the way DID was seen a few years ago. But thankfully, awareness was raised around, and now DID is starting to have its awareness raised. You seem to be more upset due to personal vindication’s rather towards my opinion over something as simple as a stupid manga. People can have opinions, my opinion could be considered wrong if I went “DID doesn’t exist, DID is satanic, this manga is factually correct because it’s making everything up” but no, I agreed in the total sense that this is factually incorrect, we also have no idea when this manga was written, by the date tag of 2000’s tells me it probably wasn’t written in the past few years when DID started having awareness and cleaning the stigmas around it. Mind you, DID only got called DID in 1994. This doesn’t excuse the incorrectness of it, and never should, but it’s a justifiable reason for why this would be so incorrect factually. Yet again, to reiterate my point, never once did I purposefully try to invalidate your point or feelings, it cannot be my fault that is how that was interpreted. But I apologise if you took it as a personal attack. If you truly do struggle with DID, I do wish you luck and any medical help you may seek in the future, and to also wish you luck in this current climate, but you don’t need to be rude to me to get your point across, that never gets anyone anywhere. I don’t see what you’re trying to achieve as I’m not here to hurt you, but like I said before, when you post a comment on the internet, you have to allow yourself to understand that anybody can and will respond to it, albeit it negatively or positively, it happens. I really want to end this, it’s starting to get a bit bothersome at this point. I have better things to do now than to argue one sidedly with someone on a porn manga page, if anything now this is “stupid”. Please have a nice day, and I don’t mean this to be rude or catty. Good bye
