basically ray was mad that soohyun didnt love him so he promised the jewel to the old man.In exchange he asked for money and for soohyun to get hurt.So when sooha finds out he got violent in order to get ray to come out,but it doesnt work and he ends up in the same room as soohyun.

i think its more that he expect soohyun to change like his dad did and he wants to see the ugly side of him and how is he going to change after being betrayed like that, i think in a way hes still protecting himself and sooha
