omegaverse

does anyone else have an itchy/uncomfortable/confused feeling omegaverse? more so on the omega side of things, the entire genre seems like an excuse for rape/sexual coercion. like oh, yeah the alpha raped the omega and its totally okay since he was an heat, he was asking for it or the alpha just couldnt resist. and how theres also the very very common trope of i took suppressants but they didn't work(they never work).

however what also irritates me alot are the yaois that try so hard to negate these tropes with the alpha thats not like the others, being the knight in shining armor for the omega. however their kindness feels so shallow and uncomfortable. it feels like theyre just conveniently put in to make the other party look bad. specifically, (for me) in ousama to puppy love, the alpha just goes into the omega zone but its totally overlooked since hes a good alpha and blahblahblah. in addition, when the omega went to the alpha's palace hes seen a """woman""" they give him female clothes and spruce him up for a quote on quote sexy night?? im all for guys wearing female clothing however the way they portrayed it was an omega blushing princess looking pretty and perfumed and in heat for her wonderful prince. i hate how in omegaverse and also yaoi in general they use female as a derogatory term. like "oh you're all wet and taking my cock and moaning like a woman, or i've turned you into a woman"

adding on the "knight in shining armor" does anyone feel frustrated when there's a love rival whose a perfectly decent person who is as good as the lead but BAM now theyre a rapist, or they are a psychopath and the lead will save the mc because all along everyone knows the second lead is always bad and evil and shitty, and make the lead look like god.

I also get the itchy feeling when its like the omega stays at home and looks pretty and is in heat waiting for the majestic important alpha, however its """"romantic"""" since the alpha cares for the omega or whatever. although I don't deny that a person who would care for you and love you and work so that you don't have to seems nice, I love stories where the two characters seem mutual and equal and both help each other up.

so in conclusion, does anyone have manga where the two characters are equal to each other instead of one dominating the relationship? sorry, this was a rant I had to get out ;_;

    Yeah as soon as I heard "omegaverse" was a thing I immediately thought...wait isn't this just a plot device for yaoi authors to get a relationship started involving sex? That's why whenever someone would ask for things without rape I'd always laugh because no matter how you look at it, it's rape. I do however like how an omegaverse allows for mpreg and a happy family with two dads! The kids in those are always so cute.
    I think I'd recommend Megumi and Tsugami because out of all the omegaverse mangas I've read, the alpha genuinely understands the concept of consent and the uke explicitly said that he didn't regret having sex with the seme after the seme profusely apologized. In other "dubcon" stuff, the uke ends up "consenting" in the moment but regretting it later on because they were under the influence of their heat or something which I wouldn't consider consensual. Megumi and Tsugami is also a pair that's equally strong physically but the uke is an omega who is perfectly capable of defending himself while the seme just wants to help the person he loves.

    ...wow I wrote a lot I have no life

    I stopped reading Love is an Illusion after seme took advantage of uke and got him pregnant. People call it cute. Nah mate, that’s f up. If I see the tag of omegaverse I’m out. Omega always gets abused and Alpha always is the “good” guy.

    also I realized this statement could be unclear, by despite it i mean that the omegaverse/yandere becomes bearable because of other factors, however these stories are few and far between.

    oh and i mean the sweetest as in he really looks out for the omega as his superior at work, and makes sure he doesn't get treated differently in his division just bc of his second gender. it's not like the "knight in shining armor" trope at all btw, sry if it sounded like that at first lol)
