kinda. He's afraid of his own feelings. Since his agenda since the beginning is to drop out of the company, he knew the process isn't all rainbows. It will be a tough ride and he need to focus and ignore everything else. He probably thinks falling into Kangha will divert him from his goal, which happens so unexpectedly that he become scared.
I think he is afraid of his feelings in the sense that Kanga will become his weakness and he is cutting it off before that happens and he's in too deep...

I don’t really think Kyuho fired him to protect him tho? From my point of view, he is forcing Kangha away bc of his feelings, and the money laundering scandal just happened to be published shortly after. Anyone else sees things like this? After all, it’s not like he could predict that, and he had already decided to fire kangha beforehand, right?
