Yes that is what the term banana means! That's why banana has such a huge prominence in this fic because of the two cultures being presented in different forms by the Koreans who grew up there vs the international students.

Idk if I’m right about this but Asians are usually called yellow people (it’s a bit derogatory) but him being an Asian that grew up with a European or “white” culture means that to them, he’s basically a glorified white boy with yellow skin. Just like a banana, he’s white on the inside but yellow on the outside? Idk if that makes sense and if that’s what the term means but if it is, that really sucks
