I kinda get the idea that his brain is under developed from lack of sleep but did nobody tell him that he is not the one with the power in this relationship, she could divorce him anytime, or just run away with the help of her family??

But like...he is the one with power in the relationship? Like he's the emperor, regardless of her ability he could just force her to stay with him if he really wanted to. If she runs away or something than like in the original novel he could just destroy the Duchy or something. If anything I'm shook he's trying to get her to stay using a coaxing method than just straight up forcing her to stay with her for life considering he's known as a tyrant but I guess that's just character settings for you.
