I mean he knows that his friend is in love with his and we can see that he never actually rejected him so the friend started to hope for his feelings to change but nothing happened and when he said if you choose him I won't be here for you anymore is cause he can't handle it anymore staying beside the one he loves when that person is in love with another. I don't think he necessarily meant that yuzuru is obligated to return his feelings just that he no longer can take it
