I agree with you...I always felt like Kengo was putting many things at stake for Hidetoshi but on the other hand I felt very little from Hidetoshi. I am not blaming victim but Hidetoshi's victimising himself didn't sit right with me, falling in love with your straight friend happens in real life too but he never actually tried to get over Kengo and actually connect with his partners up on that when he was abused he stayed in that relationship. I felt he was looking down on same sex relationships in spite of being gay.
His and Shibuya's situation was same. Both of them were being vague about a third person with their partners. Yes the hitting part was wrong and will always be wrong but as Kengo said, "When you are in a relationship you should not act in anyway that will cause misunderstanding between you and your partner." Even if they leave their current partners the problem will still be the same they will still be vague and their partners will still be insecure and even if we omit the abuse it will extremely emotionally damaging.
In conclusion I feel like the mangaka made Kengo carry the plot because he is a 'straight' guy so he had to prove his loyalty to Hidetoshi because he is gay and such. Yet as a bi person who was both in same sex and opposite sex relationships I never felt any relationship is different just because the gender is different. End of the day it's the same, the problems the insecurities all are the same so yes if a 'straight' person is in a relationship with gay person it's not only the straight person who should prove their loyalty but also the gay person too because end of the day they both are in this.
Hide did victimize himself and intentionally chose it for himself. So i doubt ihat it's victim blaming. And yeah, it's unfair for Kengo to dance in Hide's tune because of Hide's insecurities, prejudice for gay relationship, and conclusive assumptions. Gender in relationship mattered in context because of societal views and I think in various ways as well like family dynamics (pregnancy for example). But I agree that gender has no effect in terms of commitment, respect, understanding, and patience. It takes two to tango on letting the relationship last healthily.
And I still have the same opinion. Sure, they're happy. But somehow Hide's character is so damn pretentious. The type to make himself the victim for everything and say it's for someone's sake. Like, no. He pushed Kengo into stuff, jumping in conclusions and making it as if it's Kengo who is cruel. NO.
Also "he did his best for Kanazawa?" LMAO, that's funny that you should say that Kengo. He did it for himself in the end. Didnt he use Kanazawa's abuse to show you intentionally that gay relationships are "desperate relationships"? Hide was selfishly using you and Kanazawa to prove his conclusions by himself.
But I guess Kengo is a good match for him, the stubborn type who'd tear down Hide's walls and bad habits. So, this should have been longer to show Hide's backbone and actually have a character development. Kengo's back is breaking from carrying the plot.
