this is just my speculation, its been a while since ive read the part where athy almost died... so what im thinking is that he used her magic to save her, and she unconsiously rewinded clauds time, (yes, i think she can do that) and rewinded him to a state where he hasnt met athy yet, that's why he doesnt remember her. And thats why the curse he placed on himself was stronger, because it also went back to before he as slowly healing by accepting athy.
umm idk if that makes sense, but think all of this was somewhat mentioned and explained in the story, I could be wrong though

lol, now I'm confused.... i'm not really sure... she gave an accessory to athy?? wasn't it dark claud (jeanettes dad) who planted black magic on the j's accessory to intensify j's harmful but calming (for claud) black magic for when she goes and visit him. That way he slowly dies and dark claud can get back o the throne?
I might've missed or forgoten jeannette giving athy the gift dark claud placed black magic on... but i thought that was meant for jeannete...
