They were going because Ivona found out about that mana pillar and wanted to get more mana to get stronger
Ivona needed more mana to summon the high tier beasts that she was able to before in order to defeat the demon king(?) army and stand by Claude's side. She heard about the pillar and was hoping to increase her mana quickly that way so she wouldn't have to resort to sacrificing her life and scarring her body to defeat the demons again
