Too bad

Too bad there aren't any comics like this made in the West, to make young gay kids feel better about themselves. Gay kids in Japan are so lucky! Don't y'all think so too?

Shounen ai seems, on the whole, more to be written from a female point of view, and targeted at high school girls than something for gay kids.

I think between shounen ai, yaoi and bara Asian gay young adult are pretty lucky indeed. I know that yaoi, shoinen ai are targeting fujoshi and bara are targeting fundanshi but I sincerely hope gay young adult read shounen ai too. It'll be good to see that not all gay boys are manly man built likea greek Gods. And not all gay relationship

And that spending time with your boyfriend don't have to be nc 17 hot sexy stuff all the time. Nothing wrong with keeping it pg rated like in shounen ai mangas. (Whoops sorry for double posts and an incomplete post at that, I keep accidentally hitting the post button T-T).

It was initially meant for girls, yeah. Because there is not such a gap between the sexes in Japan as there is in the West, and because girls like to see that boys are just as romantic as they are. And they were right, for ever since the first yaoi and shounen ai manga started out, its public became huge and of all ages and genders. Also, contrary to the west, in Japan many comic drawers are women; so they like to draw these pretty romantic-like boys with large eyes. Nobody seems to mind, so, these manga are a big blessing for all gay kids in the world.
