Back in the day missionaries (specifically christian [catholic]) went around the world doing more harm then good when “spreading their faith”. A lot of the times they forcibly converted people and basically in the process also tried to erase their culture and ways of life in hope of “saving them” [an example of this being islands that were made to convert Native Americans into catholic christians]. It was really just a sad time, so whenever I see the word I kind of urk. And missionaries today in Africa and stuff are.... just no.

Not gonna lie, I thought it was going to be much darker like he killed someone or was a paedophile.

Preach, you're so right. I'm African and it is really something. Some priests in Africa will have ten children from different mothers but still preach about morality. And many give money to them, so they get super rich feeding off of the poor.

It is unfortunate that this happened and is happening still today.
Although Christians believe what is written in the bible should be followed, that doesn't mean another culture should be pushed on another culture. Various letters in the New Testament speak against this. Cultural differences should be celebrated. It is a part of us and shows how creative and special we all are.
(Galatians 2:11-21, “If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?” - Galatians 2:14 (Gentile - anyone who isn't Jewish))

I'm sorry, but I don't think those people are real priests, priests by name and label, but not in truth. If these people believed they wouldn't do these things and would seek to change and be forgiven.

The bible talks about these kinds of people:
(“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.” - Matthew 7:15)
("I meant that you are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worships idols, or is abusive, or is a drunkard, or cheats people. Don’t even eat with such people." - 1 Corinthians 5:11)

Exactly! But there are still people who follow them, unaware of it all. You don't have to be sorry when you're saying the truth lol

I would look up the encomienda system. We learned about it in World history and is definitely fucked up. Religion = exploitation back then.
