Jeonghan's ex-boyfriend didn't really say anything and he also wasn't there at his hardest times. Kangwoo didn't have any reasons, he was easy-going and went ahead when Jeonghan told him his feelings and they decided to date but Kangwoo's feeling couldn't measure up to Jeonghan's. Yes, Jeonghan has psychological issues to fix from past trauma after he came out to his parents but his boyfriend wasn't really there for him. He just stood and watched, not saying or doing anything, and on top of that leaving.
I totally agree with you about Gyu-tae. He's a ''good'' guy too but cannot say what he really feels because he doesn't want to acknowledge those feelings. Don’t quote me on this! As I recall, Kangwoo not loving him just as much, was just Jeonghan’s perception. He doesn’t realize this until the end though. Once, he found out, he broke down in tears and kept apologizing to Kangwoo. But it was already too late because he (jeonghan) had already moved on and fell in love with Gyu-tae. This was why his friend in the beginning had said that their problem was that they didn’t really communicate with each other when they should have. But it’s all good because kangwoo meets someone else too. Honestly, it’s just frustration that people feel because they are aware that jeonghan never really checked on the situation but instead decided on it by himself. And tbh, both of them lacked confidence in themselves too.
