it’s not that sometimes people don’t yell at their kids because they do parents will mess up sometimes, but it’s a matter of teaching them the realities of the world by talking to them about it. it’s proven that yelling is an ineffective way of teaching a child they will either become upset and cry obviously they’re being yelled at and that can continue on and lead them to see every learning moment as a punishment rather than an opportunity to grow.
the one thing that i always keep in mind while reading this story is the hye sung in particular did not just fall in love u know he was forced to have a kid he was not ready for (please read about reproductive coercion it’s a real thing) and also afterwards overheard what he’d been hearing his whole life from his dad that he couldn’t do anything.
of course taking his frustrations out on byul wasn’t ok, but there is now a fear there with his own child the he might turn out like him. when u fail to see yourself as a person who has flaws but are more than that the fear that someone might turn out like you is something heavy to think about.
also once again hye sung did not just fall in love and your problems don’t just go away because oh you should be happy because you have a child and a doting husband who again didn’t particularly fall in love either until later on. talking about things and saying go to therapy are all easier said than done, especially when all you’ve done your whole life is take what they tell you and believe it because you have no other choice.
