And concerning Killing Stalking I think it’s overhyped but you can still try when you feel ready.
i've read killing stalking, and there's nothing that can quite compare or match up to it, but i can def recommend some webtoons that are a bit softer to digest on your palate.
some webtoons or manhwa i recommend are:
- bastard (although it is not a yaoi, it is a great psychological read and won't leave your mind reeling for days)
- warehouse (this is a bl manhwa that is often compared to killing stalking, but in my opinion, it isn't as psychologically scarring because the antagonist, per se, doesn't physically harm his victim, unlike ks, but it involves disturbing topics such as rape and trauma)
- an easy target (i personally haven't read this one, but it seems this is yet another title that is compared to ks a lot. its themes revolve a lot around domestic abuse and violence, as well as sexual abuse and/or rape)
- an uncomfortable truth (i like this one a lot because it is a psychological story that delves into the mind of a killer and what it means to experience trauma)
- at the end of the road (this is a yaoi and a manhwa, but it is no where nearly as psychologically troubling as the other ones on this list, but it still centers around themes such as domestic abuse and the effects of bullying, as well as heavy topics such as suicide)
overall, all of these fit under the category of "psychological" and what most beginners like myself traversed in. in my opinion, killing stalking is worth all the hype and more, but the mainstream media portrays the story in the way it shouldn't be. i have seen a lot of fundoshi/fandashi fans have begun to "ship" bum and sangwoo, which they shouldn't by all means, and that you will have understood once you read ks.
i could go on and on about why, but the most basic of reasons is that they are in a toxic, co-dependent relationship with each other, which should be seen by the fact that one of them was literally kidnapped, abused, tortured and raped by the other.
i personally think that killing stalking was a beautiful and tragic psychological thriller, and it's understandable why so many people think of ks when it comes to the word "psychological." again, it's up to you to decide if it's worth the hype or if it's worth the read, but i think that everyone should take a chance to dabble in it before giving their critical opinion.
is there like a psychological bl manhwa that's softer, per se? something that a beginner in the genre could digest quite easier. i've been planning to read killing stalking for quite some time but im still a soft boi. seing as how hyped killing stalking is, im looking for something to finally push me. or is killing stalking just overhyped?
