but the Dom/sub verse usually follows the same dynamics as a normal bdsm relationship would have therefore the subs are - unconsciously- in charge or have the upper hand in the relationship.. I just hope that this will also be shown in this manga. I've recently read a bnha dj with the sub/ Dom verse where that aspect was shown splendidly and that was awesome
i know what you mean! if i'm not mistaken it's usually referred as a dominant bottom, and yeah it would be nice if such a concept is introduced later so we could have an idea of somewhat of a power balance, but with the explanations of what the subgender of dom and sub is, i think it's not possible ╥﹏╥
no not like a power bottom.. in that concept the bottom takes it in but otherwise controls the whole action and seduces the top... that of course is not possible to merge with the sub/dom concept. what I was talking about is that the Dom in the sub/dom verse is only there to satisfy the needs of the sub (well mostly, it's more like the Dom is satisfied if he can satisfy the needs of his sub) which I find is rather beautiful. In the bnha dj I read there they explain various practices of the sub/dom verse beside commands like stay, crawl and kneel (these are the basics). they also introduce things like the "Aftercare" (a rule that the Dom has to care for the sub after their play and make sure he is comfortable and okay), the "subspace" (a state the sub is in after play, if he is cared for emotionally and physically and therefore feels especially secure in the embrace of his Dom), the "subdrop" (as I think a very important thing to mention: it's the opposite of the subspace: when the Dom doesn't care for his sub during and after play and just forcibly goes against the sub needs to solely satisfy his own needs and in all other ways doesn't care for the well being of his sub, the sub falls into the subdrop a sudden feeling of abandonment, completely crushing the sub, inducing something like a subdrop intentionally or unintentionally is frowned upon and is seen as a crime! since the subs tend to be severely hurt, emotionally scarred and depressed), the "safeword" (it's use is similar to normal bdsm relationships but it works like a Dom's command in this verse so that if the sub doesn't want something he can say thus word and the Dom will mostly freeze and stop whatever he did. its's hard for him to snap out of it quickly and therefore gives the sub to get some distance and gain control) and that safe word can mostly be used when in "defense" (the moment when a Dom starts to overreact and only acts on his urges to monopolize and protect the sub, in that instant doing things against the sub's will.
I think if these (usually more common characteristics and rules of the sub/dom verse) were to be introduced in this manga it wouldn't be so frowned upon since there are actually a lot of rules that make this verse this much more satisfying to encounter <3
I think even if these were introduced this manga would still be weird as it doesnot take the most important component of bdsm into account which is consent. In bdsm almost every scene is consented on by the dom and the sub and usually the dom takes into account anything that would make the sub uncomfortable and makes sure that is not introduced in the scene. Usually when a dom and sub first meet they get down to the nitty gritty of their lists of kinks and make sure they are both compatible and have the same kinks. There is a safeword decided on (usually the traffic light system in which red mens to fully stop; yellow means to stop figure out what wrong or causing the stress or trauma and continue after that and green which means every thing is alright and they may proceed) the safewords may be used by both doms and subs (as doms also have dom drop) however the sub uses the safeword more and it is the doms responsibility to ask for a green if they play out something which was not agreed on beforehand if the sub gives a green they continue, if yellow they stop to discuss and if red they completely stop. So as the sub gets to decide all this it is also jokingly said that even though doms control the scenes its the subs that have the real power over it.Your perception of safe words is quite right but it can also be used in a scenario mentioned above and more. Usually they act normal outside a scene but they can also go into a 24/7 relationship in which case the sub always listens to the dom however the same rules apply. The sub can opt out anytime of a situation by the use of the safe word. Bdsm is done to satisfy both parties and make them both feel good about themselves and vent out sexual frustrations. However here its just onesided rape. Till the sub doesnot consent, however good he might feel its, still rape. And about the power bottom thing, a person can be a dom and a bottom. Bdsm is a lot more about the emotional play than the physical.
hm hm i understand. Then that would be amazing if the manga could introduce something as special and meaningful like that to the story, having different dom and sub dynamics to show the diversity of the subgender concept, but to be honest it's hard for me to see that happening in the manga. The concept of these bdsm subgenders (in the manga, not in real life, so it's kind of messed up that they used bdsm to somewhat represent something that is clearly not bdsm) are already very condescending to the subs in particular and they already screwed up something as simple as consent (something that's really important in the bdsm community), so my hopes are low ╥﹏╥
I have to say this but this is a weird, wEIRD world. The concept of subgenders being categorized into Dom and Sub is just weird and dare i say worse than omegaverse BECAUSE in this world, apparently subs have no say in the events that happen because of their subgender. I was excited because yeay manly uke but the, uh, the bdsm concept being an actual genetic thing in people's bodies threw me off the cliff and left me dead. The relationship would feel totally one-sided then wouldn't it? (⊙…⊙ )
