Yes that’s the first thing that came to mind. Especially after he mentioned betrayal and the last guy being trash. Also the bodyguard is suspicious in that he left him even for a second. Seems like he was sent to check him out.
I feel like this is a test. That one man who gave him the drug must be part of Maki's men. Maki is probably doing that to see if Yanai is loyal.
