I... didn’t know we had magic schools in the past??? And beastmen???? I get where you’re coming from but this isn’t a historical piece it’s a fantasy! And honestly, I’m getting tired of authors using “oh that age was normal in the past” to justify these young girls acting like grown ass women and getting with men many years older than them because there’s NOTHING forcing them to make their characters that young. Historical accuracy doesn’t mean shit in a fantasy world.
Exactly it's a fantasy world and the FL is a very strong girl that can protect herself of course that doesn't justify the fact that it is a 24 (I think) yr old beast to crush on her but then again this was written by a Japanese author right? In Japan the age you can be to get married is around 16 or 15
Yeah, she's BARELY LEGAL. Why is she so young when the author had all the power to make her older? Why not make her the age that properly reflects her appearance and maturity? Technically it's legal but you can't tell me that it feels right, you know? As a 21 year old, I don't even conceive at looking at anyone under the age of 20 because the difference that even a year makes in your teens is astronomical. If anyone over the age of 20 is looking at a teenager, even if they're legal, I'm side-eyeing that person's intentions.
There's nothing wrong with her acting the way that she does; I'm just complaining about how the author decided to choose her age to be so young and right at the bar for legal in Japan. I don't like how it's still so normal in Shoujo to have these types of age gaps where the male is always older and the female is barely past being legal or still illegal in other countries. I also read a lot of yaoi, and a lot of them seem to be at least attempting to create more healthy age difference relationships while shoujo is still really backwards when it comes to romance.
It’s all good! It’s perfectly understandable because at your current stage, you’ve only been witness to one side of the dynamic. This type of situation is something that I didn’t take as seriously either until I was on the other side of the equation, when I was no longer in the headspace of a minor. You’re gonna turn 18, and not feel that different, but when you turn 20, 21, 22 and you look back at yourself at 18? You’re gonna see a child that still had a lot to learn and go through. Media like this unconsciously normalizes in young girls’ brains that it’s okay for a 24 year old to be attracted to a 16 year old if it’s legal. That it’s okay because the main character is “mature for her age” and the man is going to wait for her because he’s a gentleman and not a groomer. A bit of advice, no good man is going to be attracted to a high schooler. If there’s a college aged man attracted to you: run.
I don’t know if they know about her age or that she’s just out of school, but I don’t think knowing her age would phase them that much, seeing the way Shige reacted :/ I’m really sad because I like Shige so much ;-; whhhhhy did he have to be attracted to a child??
SIXTEEN!?!?! HOWWWW?!?!?
Didn't she like graduate from school??? Shouldn't she be ATLEAST 18 by now? WTF??? Who lets their 16 year old grandchild run away and run her own business???? What kind of 16 year old looks like her? She looks like a full grown woman!
