we already know "why" he does what he does and doesn't make any sense. Theres a level of narcism that objectively speaking makes Taeho's efforts just absurdly selfish. As we know the curse is between Eunwoo and his family. The curse dictates one of dies depending on who falls in love first. Taeho can just walk away and remove himself from the possibility by just not interacting with Eunwoo keeping them both safe. If instead Eunwoo ends up romantically with someone else and that partner dies it's not Taeho who will have accountability. Unless the curse specifically says if Eunwoo were to fall in love with literally anyone and that would cause his death which the author hasn't implied the exposition we've been provided, Taeho's efforts are completely pointless. Eunwoo entire personality before Taeho was a shrewd loveless cynic. Who avoided people and complex relationships. We literally have Eunwoo change because Taeho reinserted himself into Eunwoo's life making him all the more emotional. The issue with this plot is if you break it down as I have Taeho's actions read as he's obsessed with Eunwoo and has given himself his white knight narrative of abusing Eunwoo for the sake of Eunwoo's life. But Eunwoo was living life just fine without Taeho and wasn't one step closer to death as he is now. We also get the flashback that Taeho was awful to previous romantic partners too, and his ego cannot take not being in control over another hence Eunwoo is easy pickings with a"noble" cause he can hide behind. He's just a truly awful person, but the author's trying to rationalize and validate his actions in a way that worsens him in actuality.
Totally agree. After reading the latest chapter, I realized that Taeho acts like a jerk because he's really a jerk.
