here in Philippines, we always tend for our sick family members especially children. Not only we change the cold towel often, but also wipe the body with cold towel. cook nutritious food and remind them their medicine. This is for them to get better fast and its really great when someone is taking care of you when you are on your vulnerable state
Imma have to disagree with you right there mate. My Filipino dad has stories where he was so sick he had to crawl down stairs and force food into his mouth as a child. His parents would just watch. I mean after he got better they would say “good job”, but overall my Filipino grandparents were the kind of parents who said “no one is going to take care of you, except you”
I dont really know how it is for other people of our country but the biggest part in taking care of sick ones was the food. We would make healthy food or buy stuff the sick person is craving etc. We have a saying that a good night's sleep cures everything so we didn't keep each other company but instead told the sick one to sleep well. Still having someone to take care does make you feel loved and it helps.
Idk if its an american thing but my in my family we don't really tend to those who are sick we just let them be. Other americans how is it for you?
