Anutha rant

I already commented earlier but I just wanted express another thing that didn't sit right with me. The author is obviously romanticizing the relationship between Mr. F and his ADULT cousin that should have had the common sense to not have sex with an underage relative. No it doesn't matter if they were in "love," Mr. F was a child and people that young often mistake infatuation and attachment to love, and the cousin is problematic for obvious reasons. Showing them walking away holding hands is just wrong to me, because that is not even a romantic relationship when it involves a child that was very infatuated and not mature enough to realize the gravity of the situation. The cousin is honestly disgusting and horrible for letting it happen, he should have died before he got with Mr. F. It's even more sad to realize that a kid with a whole life ahead of him killed himself over a guy that he should have never been with in the first place, especially when he had a chance to find happiness with Jun. The author should have acknowledged how horrible it was for that to happen instead of making it seem that Mr. F is in a better place now that he's dead and reunited with his cousin. It is not romantic at all and just creates more misconceptions about gay people. And for once, the parents were right to keep Mr. F away from his cousin because that is straight up pedophilia. If there is one thing I am genuinely upset about it, it is definitely this. I wish I could express this to the author in a nice way but she probably wouldn't read it anyways.

this is exactly how i felt too... i know the author wanted to show the "realities" or "hardships" that gay people face and that not everything is sunshine and rainbows but that scene where they're holding hands rubbed me the wrong way. it's as if the author is trying to show that thats the only way mr Fahrenheit can achieve happiness.

Exactly! No one should be committing suicide over anyone, yet the author made it seem like that was the only thing Mr. F could do to be happy. Like no, suicide is not the answer no matter what. If the author had made it clear that Mr. F's relationship with his cousin wasn't right then that would have been way more realistic, instead of portraying them as a pair of lovers that couldn't be together.
