I fail to see how their relationship is romantic. I dont think NK has any feelings for SH. He is still deeply hurt about his teacher. Either he is punishing himself for it, or he decided there was no point in trying to fight back anymore like he just gave up. Sad sad. I think if anything it is all one sided.
